When we first started homeschooling, I remember thinking: “How do I even know if we’re covering what we’re meant to?”

So I created a checklist.

One that covers the core English and maths skills for Foundation year — without overwhelm.

It includes things like:

• Telling stories in their own words
• Spotting rhyming sounds
• Reading simple words like “dog” or “hat”
• Writing about something they’ve seen or felt

Each skill comes with a simple tip.

Like asking, “What happened in that story?” or using flashcards around the house.

It’s not about ticking boxes — it’s about noticing progress and building confidence (yours and theirs).
