Hey, homeschoolers! Have you ever tried making fizzy potions with your little ones? It's such a fun way to sneak in some science learning while getting messy and just having fun 🧡
This afternoon, we had a blast making our own fizzy potion powder with just citric acid, bicarb soda, cornflour, and a splash of food coloring. The kids loved watching their colorful concoctions bubble and fizz!
Now you can buy pre made fizz but if you want to make bulk here’s a recipe we used,
Recipe
2 cans of citric acid (baking section) - creates the fizz
500g cornflour - prolongs the fizz
500g bicarbonate soda - bulks up the powder
Optional - food colouring
• combine in a bowl and add to a container, jar or we used an old milo tin.
for colours add to the bicarbonate soda before combining with other ingredients, adding to the cornflour results in chunky cornflour and adding to the citric acid starts the fizz reaction.
I let my eldest take the rains on this recipe and she loved adding all the ingredients together and getting that hands on experience.
To use just add water 💧
